It’s that time of year again folks… FURTHUR has announced their Spring 2011 tour!

Now this may not mean much to many of you (or any of you for that matter) however they are indeed playing Saint Patrick’s Day at the Patriot Center in beautiful Fairfax VA.  For those of you who don’t know, this is essentially in my backyard so this means Epcot effing rage crew will be in full effect.  I would like to take this opportunity to invite any and all ST’ers down for what promises to be a VERY festive occasion.  Lodging to be provided, all you gotta do is get down here…

Now I am acutely aware of the hatred and backlash directed towards this band (cough…Andrew….cough) HOWEVER they are not a cover band nor are they some sort of throwback to the good ol’ days of the Dead…well maybe they conjure the good ol days just a little bit.  These guys, contrary to popular belief, are indeed doing something new. They are taking songs and jams and making them their own and putting new twists on older tunes,  they are delving deep into the back catalog of tunes the Dead would not have played even if they were still around, and they are especially bringing the party to each and every city they visit.  Having attended a few shows I can honestly say that the Furthur lot beats the hell out of a frat bro, snobby, square Phish lot any day of the week.  But I digress…judge for yourself.  They are doing a ton of shows up and down the East Coast this Spring so check em out if you have even the slightest liking for the music of the Dead, Bob Weir’s tiny shorts, or are just lookin for a real good time.

Oh and if anyone wants to purchase the above image in giant poster form for me for Christmas it would be alright by me.
