So, Skream and Benga were the main reason I wanted to go, and I was not dissapointed, they were massive, the dubstep sounded facemelting coming through those speakers, here is a video:

After that, I was roaming around to check out the lay of the land and the second stage, I went and checked out 12th Planet, and I have to say I officially became a fan that night. I left Jimm4real and the rest of the woopsha crew at the main stage to check out Sleigh Bells. I like some of their songs but not enough to stick around, apparently neither does Jimmy4real because he bolted after the first song and joined me over at 12th Planet for more dubstep. Babette came to see MIA so we cut our 12th Planet raging short to go back to the main stage where we caught the ass-end of Dar Antwoord, now if you haven’t heard about them, they were this internet phenom coming from South Africa, I showed Jimmy this video the night before we left:

He really wasn’t feeling it and quite frankly neither was I. So we caught the end of their set and I still have the same opinion, I don’t understand why all these hipsters are on their tip, that song kind of annoys me, but whatevs clevs to each his own and what not.
So then came MIA. She was obviously drunk, and while I went to use the Port-o-Jon (exquisite potties by the way, always a plus at any show) the speakers blew out. So when I got back they were trying to fix them. Well that didn’t go to well, because the sound sucked. Also MIA was wasted, their were reports of her throwing bottles of alcohol into the crowd, at one point she was yelling out “turn me up, if you don’t turn me up I’m just going to stand here” also “Bring me more tequila!” All of this was spoken in a spoiled, whiny British accent. She also stated “I didn’t make a setlist, so yell out what you want to hear” – so she was drunk, didn’t and apparently didn’t do a set list, awesome. After yelling out how she was basically unprepared and obviously wasted we decided to beat the crowd to the boats (did I mention it was on Governor’s Island?) So luckily for MIA a torrential downpour came, giving her an excuse to stop playing. People said she finished off with an “amazing” acapella of “Born Free”, before being pulled of the stage due to weather concerns. Check out MIA’s wankfest in the video below:

So when I got back I checked the interwebs for info, I heard there was going to be an after party at Santos, I went to search twitter to see if it was true and reaffirm my belief that MIA’s performance sucked and I found one tweet that allegedly MIA’s millionare husband was beat down and she did not perform.
Apparently Katy Perry was there, if she was she doesn’t know a good performance is because she said MIA did great.
