It reminds me of an old roommate (justin c.) who used to constantly alternate between this and Tool. To my ears, its essentially white people music. I think it makes white people feel goth and mysterious. And also like they have super powers like telekinesis or, if provoked, could shoot lazers from their arms. At least thats why I like it.
