My Nightmare

I am not sure if I every made this clear, but I am deathly afraid of robots. My nightmare is a phantasmagoria of post-apocalyptic horrors where the downfall of the human race is brought about by the careless creation of robots so superior to humans that they hunt us to near extinction like cowboys did to the American Buffalo. Are we dumb enough to create the object of our own demise? This just serves to exacerbate my fears and feed the flames of my revolt against artificial intelligence.

The time for revolution is nigh! Resist the temptation of sweet robot arms that shoot lasers! Do not deny your humanity for awesome rocket-skates for feet, or soft-serve ice cream machines for fingers! Do not fall into the peril of super-powered brains, and quite possibly the abilities to fly and turn invisible! Embrace being human with all its shortcomings!

I wonder if sex will get better or worse? Oh well, can’t be as bad as virtual sex like in Demolition Man with Sylvestor Stalone

As an aside, you’d be amazed how hard it is to find sweet videos of robots massacring humanity, ripping the heads of little girls’ dolls, or eating puppies. This would almost work if Benny Hinn was a robot. Furthermore, you can’t even find a good video of anything eating a puppy, only puppies eating.

Cleveland Rocks!

I know Slowtimer’s own Eliza Doolittle is nearby in Cincinnati at the moment so maybe she can get on the 71 and drive north to see Cleveland’s own favorite son outside of Drew Carey. I need to have some questions answered. Does this guy sell furniture or animal sculptures? Is that really a store? Can you get half price off a cop statue if you buy a whole dinette set?

Mind On My Money

I’m currently reading Why Smart People Make Big Money Mistakes-and How to Correct them by Gary Belsky and Thomas Gilovich. The it’s economics meets behavioral psychology. It is not a terribly exciting read, but I have learned a few things about myself and my money. The most interesting thing so far was on what the authors call “mental accounting”. Boils down to how we view money based on where it came from (earned or gift) and how sometimes viewing money in this way lead us to poor money managing aka spending more than you have.

The book was a result of my new found favorite site getrichaslowly.org. This site has inspired and given me guide lines on how to to 1) get out of debt 2) manage and save my money ( I haven’t overdrawn my account in several months!) without giving up the joy of living life 3) become independently wealthy.

This last point has totally changed my attitude towards what I want to spend my time doing and what it means to retire. I am currently working towards being my own boss by doing what I love. And when that’s the case, there is no need to retire or trap myself in that sort of linear thinking.

So, check it out. Get stoked about living your life on your terms and, you know, keep it slow.

Method Man Hates High Gas Prices

Method Man is my favorite rapper of all time. I haven’t seen many hip-hop shows, but his show in Albuquerque during his 4:21 tour was crazy fun and one of the best shows I’ve ever seen for any musician. His All I Need is my favorite love song and now he is one of my favorite people I don’t know in the world. Hilarious. This interview is a bit long but totally worth a watch.
