You know that feeling you have when you realize that one of your favorite songs has been over played and it loses all of it’s original value? Well a better feeling is when you hear the song again and that wonderful feeling you felt before the damn thing fell apart comes back. Here is a played out song. But after watching this don’t these guys, (my favorite band of all time) look like the happiest musicians on Earth? Don’t they make you happy? Am I crazy? Who cares, this song has been over played but I’m leaving it here. Directed by Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia), Stop Making Sense is a great concert movie. And how can you not love Alex Weir (the black guitarist)? That guy is jacked. I’m taking this song back, I’m taking them all back.
Whatever.

It’s time for another Sleepy Remix of Bill Simmons article on the rules to being a good ‘ole fan.
Behavior
7. Be very careful when using the word “We” with? your favorite team. ? Use it judiciously.? Just remember, you don’t wear a uniform, you don’t play any minutes, and you’re not on the team. And yes, this was an extremely tough line for me to straddle during the Patriots’ Super Bowl run.?
? ?
Using We to describe your team is silly and illogical. As a fan you have? nothing to do with the teams success or failures beyond the money you contribute to the team by buying Packer trashcans and Brewer beer coolers. Your involvement is next to nil.? ? Even your superstitions are worthless.? Just because you haven?t washed your sweat stained Red Sox hat all season doesn?t mean you deserve a World Series ring and your amazing fortitude to open blue doors with only your left hand all football season doesn?t mean you tipped the scale for the Giants.
But my god, is it fun to say. I say it all the time. If you ask me how well the Cinicannati Reds will do this upcoming season I will probably say something like, ?I think we will have an improved bullpen and Dusty Baker may get us a few more wins just with his presence?. And then after I say it I?ll think to myself how stupid and silly I am but I won?t apologize. When your moods are dictated by the wins and losses of your team you feel entitled, you feel like a We even when your obviously not. But it doesn’t hurt anyone, it just makes you look foolish, but foolishness is at the heart of sports.
Even though it’s fun the We should not be used every time you talk about your team. Simmons is right; you gotta use it judiciously. Using the We or Us with other hard core sports fans is better than using it with random coworkers. You don?t want to be the fanboy freak in the office but when your actually with other fanboy freaks, well, consider it Rome.
